Workforce equality and diversity

We want everyone to be able to be themselves in the workplace and feel valued and respected for the diversity they bring to the workforce.
 

We provide equality, diversity and human rights training to all staff and aim to ensure equality of opportunity, to tackle discrimination and to foster good relations between different groups of people within our workforce.

Action on hearing loss

We know that in the UK around 40% of people aged 50 years and over, rising to 70% of people by age 70 years, experience hearing loss. Sometimes people are worried about how employers will react if they disclose age-related hearing loss. Our Human Resources team helps members of staff to identify the support they need and what can can be put in place to help in the workplace if their hearing loss is:

  • affecting their ability to hear clearly in meetings
  • making it difficult to use the telephone
  • creating barriers that are making it difficult to work effectively.

Members of staff who are not sure if they are experiencing hearing loss, or if it has worsened, can use this free online hearing check.

We have a proactive network of equality groups that help to raise awareness about equality matters, support staff experiencing issues and work to improve equality and inclusion in the workplace.
