Delivered in specially designed environments, we are able to provide person-centred care programmes, in a range of locations, tailored to the needs of the patient.

We have nationally recognised experts in ASD and dedicated multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) which are all trained in autism awareness. Together with dedicated diagnostic assessment tools and adapted interventions we’re able to provide continuity of care throughout a patient’s journey back into the community.

Assessment and stabilisation can take place in either medium secure or low secure settings. Once engaged in a programme of care, patients can move to a more therapeutic environment, where there is a focus on learning new skills and preparing for community re-integration.

Dedicated diagnostic assessment tools

The ASD service used a range of dedicated tools, as recommended in National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, such as Autistic Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R), Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO).

In addition, comprehensive evaluation including cognitive profiling, testing of executive function and sensory profiling takes place to devise the best possible understanding of the patient.

For patients with behavioural and risk challenges, assessment measures such as HCR-20, RSVP and START help to produce a multi-disciplinary formation of needs.

Therapeutic programmes and specialist interventions

At St Andrew’s we firmly believe there is no such thing as a typical ASD patient, so our care programmes vary widely but share common themes. Personalised programmes for each individual are built from the wide range of therapeutic programmes we offer.  Read more...
